Before you book

Taking children to a Shenzhen spa?

Check where your family can spend time together, where you may need to separate, and which rules apply to children before you buy tickets.

Important: this guide explains what to verify. A specific venue’s current rules should be checked on its evidence page before booking.

Start with the layout, not the label

Large-format bathing and leisure venues in China may combine several functions: changing and bathing zones, saunas or heated rooms, food, games, lounges, and sometimes overnight rest. The arrangement varies by venue. Bathing areas may be separated by gender while other leisure areas may be shared.

A family should therefore verify both parts of the experience: where family members must separate and where they can regroup. A generic “spa” label does not answer either question.

Seven questions to answer before booking

  1. Are children admitted? Ask for minimum age, minimum height, and any time-of-day restrictions.
  2. Does an adult need to accompany each child? Confirm whether the adult must be the same gender in separated changing or bathing areas.
  3. Which areas are shared? Identify the exact lounges, restaurants, play areas or heated rooms the family may use together.
  4. What does the ticket include? Separate entry, food, treatments, overnight stays and time-limit charges.
  5. What identification is accepted? Ask whether a foreign passport is sufficient for entry, registration or overnight use.
  6. How can an overseas visitor pay? Check the booking platform, accepted cards or mobile payments, deposits, and refund path.
  7. How recent is the answer? Child policies, packages and opening hours can change. Note the source and date.

How to read this directory

Each venue page separates sourced facts from editorial interpretation. A source-backed value has a source ID and verification date. A field marked Unknown — not yet verified is not a negative answer; it means there is not enough evidence to publish a reliable value.

The status labels have narrow meanings:

A practical family decision rule

Do not book solely because children appear in promotional images. For a family visit, require a direct answer for child admission, supervision and shared family areas. If any of those remain unknown, contact the venue or choose a record with current evidence.

Use the filters to require confirmed conditions. Unknown values will not silently pass a strict filter.
